Dr. Marvin Cavallino has the distinction of being the first board certified pediatric dentist in Metairie.  Before establishing his pediatric dental practice in Metairie, Dr. Cavallino was in a family dental practice.  His extensive training allows him to handle all aspects of children's oral health care, including prevention, restorative care, and growth and development, from birth to age 18.  He performs procedures such as fillings, preventive resins, bondings, functional appliances and some comprehensive orthodontic treatment.  In many cases, these functional appliances eliminate the need for orthodontic treatment or conventional braces.

Dr. Cavallino and his team place a high priority on prevention and recommends a regular dental program be established for children by the age of 12 months.  This preventive approach to treatment guarantees healthier children and happier parents.

Dr. Cavallino's professional qualifications include a B.S. degree from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, a D.D.S. degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, and a certificate of residency in pediatric dentistry from the University of Nebraska, where he was chief resident.  Dr. Cavallino is board certified in pediatric dentistry, being awarded the Diplomate status of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.  He is also a surgical staff member at East Jefferson Hospital and Children's Hospital and a teacher on the graduate level at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Claudia Cavallino is a lifelong New Orleans resident who graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy.  She received a B.A. degree in psychology from Fairfield University in Connecticut and earned a D.D.S. degree from LSU School of Dentistry in 2002. She then spent two years doing a post-graduate residency in pediatric dentistry through LSU School of Dentistry and Children’s Hospital.  In 2004 she received her certificate becoming board eligible in pediatric dentistry. She joined her father’s pediatric dental practice in July of 2004 and enjoys being part of a team that provides comprehensive oral helath care to many young patients.

 While in her residency she received extensive training which allows her to handle all aspects of children’s oral health care as well as advanced training in child psychology and behavior management, conscious sedation and hospital dentistry, and caring for children with special health care needs. For our youngest patients and those with special needs who sometimes require general anesthesia for dental treatment, Dr. Cavallino has surgical staff privileges at Children’s Hospital, East Jefferson General Hospital, and Terrebonne General Medical Center.
